After all the birthday and holiday festivities, I was ready for a little quiet and relaxation.
And that's just how we spent New Year's Eve around here. Except for Brinley who attended a youth dance in the area with some of her friends, we stayed cozy warm at home.
G-ma and G-pa P drove up the afternoon of December 31 and brought Will along for a few days while Taylor was recovering from having his tonsils removed. June stayed with Jen and played with cousins from Jen's side of the family.
Elsie, Will and Quinn played so well together.
They especially enjoyed dressing up as Star Wars characters and fighting with light sabors.
Aaron took the kids over to play basketball at the church on New Year's Eve day.
Coach Jantzen gave Quinn and Will a private lesson on how to properly shoot the ball.

It was fun to hear Will and Quinn play songs on the piano for each other.
Apparently, there are English versions and Chinese versions of songs...

The weather was nippy (below zero) for a few days so the kids made sure to bundle up well while playing outside on January 1.
Aaron's a good sport to pull the kids around the yard.

It was quite entertaining listening to these two boys chat together.
Will had crazy hair everyday. And Quinn needs a haircut!
Everybody enjoyed the break from school and a variety of other commitments.
The kids insist that hot cocoa is a must after being out in freezing temps.
Lucky for them we had a few leftover neighbor gifts because I'm not a cocoa fan myself and only buy it at Christmas time.
The kids anticipated making cookies with G-ma P during the Christmas break. Since we were nearly sugared out, we voted to make a smaller batch of gingerbread cookies instead of the traditional sugar cookies.
G-ma and G-pa enjoyed relaxing with us for a few days and were our first guests to try out the new sectional in our bonus room. We watched movies two nights in a row - that's some kind of record, I'm sure.

Elsie was a great fill-in during those moments when Quinn needed his alone time. He actually preferred to sleep on our bedroom floor rather than stay with the others.
Saturday morning G-ma read her annual Christmas story to the kids before packing up and heading out. On their way out of town, they stopped in IF to watch Anna's first basketball game in a new league. Watching a live game was a first for Will. He and Quinn also played a game of their own out in the hallway. Entertaining.
Sunday evening - Cameron invited the family over to celebrate Jett's 2nd birthday.
The Star Wars rage has affected all age groups.
And dressing up is the thing to do.

Haley P. didn't want Tanner to be snagged so she was prompt to ask him.
After getting everybody off to school Thursday morning, Aaron and I jumped into the brand new (Subaru Forester) loaner car the Subaru dealership is letting us borrow while our car is being repaired - and drove to CV. We are in transition with our automobiles right now.
The quick trip allowed us time to visit with Jen and Taylor who are in town from China for a few more days. Always fun to catch up.
Our dual purpose visit also afforded me the opportunity to spend the night and drive home the next morning. Thanks for holding down the fort Aaron - and insisting I spend a few more hours with my family! Later that afternoon, Dad returned from SL where Mom was working and I was able to foot zone Hilary, Taylor and Jen.
