This day of the Pine Wood Derby is much anticipated and very important to Quinn. He LOVES preparing for and racing his car. After the sweet victory of last year, we prepped him for being gracious no matter what this year's results would be. Happily, he took a 2nd place finish with perfect grace and poise. In fact, his times were actually faster this year so the competition improved greatly.

The annual pilgrimage to the mountains in search of the family Christmas tree took place the day before Thanksgiving. We voted to have Aaron drive his truck since the wheels/traction are better and loading the tree in the back instead of strapping it on top of the minivan makes life better for everyone. Tanner and I opted to stay home and get homework and housework done instead:).

Later that evening, G-ma and G-pa P arrived along with the C. family. G-ma and G-pa recently returned from their mission so it was the first time Aaron and the kids had seen them in over a year. It also happened to be Korinne's 13th birthday (on Thanksgiving) so we celebrated with cake and ice cream after eating dinner together. The next morning, we all prepped for the big feast then loaded up and drove to Brent & Kathy's house.

It was fun to tour Logan & Jessica's new house they built next door to Brent & Kathy. Jake & Marcy also built a home a few years ago and live nearby. Jeff was working but we visited with Tawny and her boys along with Dustin & Larah's family (Cassidy & Parker).
Kathy spoils us every year and sends us home with a box of her homemade chocolates. G-ma and G-pa P were good sports and took Anna, Elsie, Jenna and Korinne "Black Friday" shopping en route to our home. Korinne's birthday wish came true! Hilary and I were thrilled the girls could have that experience with G-ma and G-pa since neither of us are big shoppers.
Friday morning people packed up and headed out but there was more fun around the corner. Saturday evening, Aaron and I drove separate cars and took the kids to CV so we could hear G-ma and G-pa speak in church the next morning. They did a wonderful job sharing experiences from their time in the Independence Missouri Mission and recounting how learning about church history can strengthen our testimonies of the Savior.
We did plenty of feasting during the Thanksgiving holiday and certainly had much to be grateful for. After enjoying family time together, I returned home with five kids while Tanner and Aaron drove on to SL. Tanner had an interview in SL the following morning for a potential internship and Aaron had a flight to catch for a week of EOS training in Colorado and a meeting in Seattle. Welcome home G-ma and G-pa! Thanks for your missionary service!

It is fun to see photos of Quinn's derby, the Christmas tree gathering event and Thanksgiving. Thanks for your support in driving to Utah after Thanksgiving to hear us speak. We love being around your family!
