School & Musical Moments

 The last "Red Day" of the school year.  

Elsie was very committed to weekly Spirit Day - each Friday - and always reminded others to wear their red.

 Fortunately, I was part of a trio carpool this year necessitated by the fact that kindergarteners only had access to a school bus once a day.  I always picked up after school on Mondays and took the girls to school on Fridays.  Each Friday I did a little reading with the children while their teacher finished her lunch.  Quinn especially liked stopping by the lunchroom to find Jantzen and Anna.

 Quinn knew how to work the system.  

Anna and her friends would dote over him and the kid always walked away from the experience with a chocolate milk in hand.  Oh yeah, mission accomplished!

 Even the school principal has taken a liking to 'little buddy' and kept a stash on hand.  Bob eagerly shared treats with Quinn every time we stepped foot inside the building:).  We'll miss Bob - he's retiring this year.  He's taken a personal interest in the kids and they have enjoyed having him around at school.

 Elsie celebrated her summer birthday at school and I brought treats for the class.  She talked about this gum-ball machine all week in anticipation of the big moment.  

Even though she had her heart set on a pink gum ball (like in the Pinkalicious book), she was a good sport when blue came out.

Boarding the Salt Lake Express at 6:30am with the 7th grade orchestra...heading for UT.

Anyone who knows anything about school orchestral programs - is familiar with the impressive accomplishments of the M. school district.  Schools from all over the region gathered to perform for a panel of judges.  Once again, Brinley's 7th grade orchestra brought home the 1st place trophy in the symphonic orchestra category in the "Arts in the Park" competition.  Congrats Brinley!

The rest of the day was spent having fun with her friends at the Lagoon Amusement Park.  Glad it stopped raining for the afternoon!  There were chaperones and we knew she was is safe-keeping but it was strange to have her arrive home at midnight!

Tanner's Friday night backpacking trip was cancelled due to rain but Jantzen's soccer games were not.  His games are usually close to home but unfortunately, he played in Pocatello and Blackfoot yesterday - in the cold and wind and rain.

About a month ago, Tanner decided he wanted to take piano lessons again.  It was a jaw-dropping kind of moment for me when he asked if that would be possible.  I responded that we could look into it.  Tonight we played in a duet recital together.  It's been many years since we've done something like that and we had a good time.  Life is full of surprises:)
