I love Christmas music! The kids have gone to bed listening to David Archuletta's Christmas CD for several weeks now. We've enjoyed holiday music at all hours of the day this season.
In the past, the entire elementary school has performed a Christmas music program for parents. This year they changed things up a bit (new principal?). Each class learned about a particular country and then shared music from around the world.
Anna's 4th grade class played "Christmas Jammin'" on their recorders.

In Jamaica, this common phrase refers to feeling good about yourself/life/etc.
Elsie's 1st grade class sang "Silent Night" in Italian.

We learned about Italian Christmas traditions and enjoyed yummy cookies, meatballs, etc.

G-ma and G-pa M were also able to attend the performance.
Brinley played beautifully for the Junior High School orchestra concert earlier this month. Here she is performing Christmas music for senior citizens at an assisted living facility in the area.
She played 30-40 minutes of different Christmas carols - mostly memorized.
That is A LOT of music!

I have two favorite musical memories from this holiday season. The first was the high school music department's "The Magic of Christmas!" concert held on December 19 where various groups performed including Tanner's Concert Orchestra. Also performing were the Musettes, Shades, Wind Ensemble, Bel Cantos Choir and the Symphony Orchestra. At times it was as if I were listening to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in the Conference Center - so glorious was the music! The other favorite musical memory occurred last Sunday at church. I accompanied the choir through a melody of Christmas hymns. Tanner on his cello and Brinley on her violin along with two other violinists brought it all together. They played beautifully and brought the Christmas spirit in abundance.
I love the music of this season...

Wow! Thanks for sharing those special Christmas musical events. The kids are so talented and we wish we could have been there for each of those performances. Hope you can do better next year. Tell each child we are proud of them.
