There was a whole lot of happenings during the month of June besides our trip to Nauvoo.
This post is a quick re-cap so I don't completely neglect last month.
Brinley enjoyed one day at home (after returning from Nauvoo) before packing her bags for Stake Girl's Camp held at Rock Creek. With the stake in charge this year, the leaders organized the girls not by ward units but by age instead. The results were a mixed bag depending on who you asked but overall the reports were positive.
Aaron really didn't have time to drive a trailer full of young women's stuff to the campsite over an hour away but that's just the kind of guy he is - AWESOME!
It was a crazy cold weather week but fortunately the girls were in cabins this year so most stayed dry during the rainstorms:).
Jantzen saved up his hard-earned cash to pay half the cost to attend the Mickey D's Basketball Camp held June 23-27 from 1-4:30pm at the local high school. In addition to attending his regular Tuesday and Thursday morning basketball practices each week, Jantzen really wanted to sharpen his skills so paying for this camp was worth it to him.
This is the summer of camps for Brinley.
The week following girl's camp, she headed to Alpine, WY as a Junior Counselor for the annual 4-H camp along with her friend, Niki G.
Unfortunately, we haven't had an extra camera available for Brinley to take on these recent outings so pics are minimal:(.
We don't have to go far to enjoy the great outdoors where we live.
Just ask Aaron. He had a mission to accomplish.
With a little help from Jantzen's bb gun, Aaron scared this little bat out of our garage and back to where it belonged - somewhere OUT of our garage!
Our local credit union sponsors a free dinner for members at the park along with an evening filled with musical performances, a climbing wall and other games for children to enjoy. While the food is free, tickets must be purchased for several of the games. Since 100% of the proceeds is donated to Primary Children's Medical Center, we let the kids select one game to participate in.
This giant game of Twister was a freebie. I don't remember having to put my shoulder on a colored circle when I played this game as a kid but Quinn and Anna did their best to follow directions!
This is the one activity our kids deemed worthy of using their ticket for.
Hay bales are stacked up with plastic sheeting arranged to keep the water in thus creating a giant fish hatchery of sorts.
The kids have a limited amount of time to spend in the water.
The goal = to catch a fish using only their hands. Earlier in the evening there were a few $50 prize-money fish swimming around, but they were already caught before our kids participated.
Anna and Jantzen were quick on the draw and made sure Elsie and Quinn did not leave empty-handed before the buzzer went off.

We packed the fish in ice and headed home. Aaron gutted them and put the fish in the freezer to grill another day. Several days passed and our garage absolutely reeked of death. Could fish guts really be that smelly? We couldn't wait until garbage day arrived. Imagine our shock when the smell didn't dissipate but rather, intensified for a few days until the culprit was discovered. A certain curious little boy had pulled the bag of cleaned fish from the freezer to investigate and managed to leave them on the floor of the garage in a random location. Oh, and the bag was no longer sealed. Imagine the fun of making that discovery!

Bob and Janene have been busy getting settled into their new home. Besides helping organize this beautiful kitchen, I haven't been around to do much else!

It's a lovely home for them and they are thrilled to be out of the trailer.

Sunday dinners have been hit-or-miss these past few months - usually held at our place when we're around or occasionally at Chris & Julia's. It was fun to all be together again - even in cozy conditions.

Elsie completed her second year in the Let's Play Music program. The program calendar shifted when the teacher's baby arrived earlier than expected. Hence, a summer recital instead of the originally scheduled end-of-the-school year recital.
She and her class played a few pieces together and they sounded great!
They also sang songs and introduced musical concepts to the audience.
On Sunday, June 29, I accompanied Brinley and her violin teacher, Emily, as they played a most beautiful duet of "Joseph Smith's First Prayer". It was so amazing! I'm glad they were able to play it for both wards on the same day. Two days later, we learned Brinley's teacher is moving out-of-state so she and her husband and continue their education elsewhere. Emily will be missed!

No, we already got the garden planted.
We inherited a new addition to the yard.
And it took some serious effort to get it ready for use.
The kids are excited!
