Technically, Harvest Break started on Friday (Sept. 26) when the kids returned home from school. 
Though we wanted/tried to fulfill the tradition of a kid camp-out with Dad a few times this past summer, it didn't happen. The younger kids were persistent enough that Aaron decided a camp-out in the backyard was better than nothing. Though the forecast looked sketchy, he went ahead and put the tent up anyway. In the end, the 'camp-out' still didn't happen. Who knew it would rain EVERY SINGLE DAY during the break? We had to leave the tent up all week just to dry the poor thing out before storing it for the winter. Better luck next year!

No pumpkin purchase dilemma this year.
I called my neighbor and she had enough to share.
We decorated our porch for Halloween with them.
Along with our window clings and some indoor decorative pumpkins, we are done. I told the kids we are the Happy Pumpkin House as contrasted with all of the skeletons and graveyards they see around us. Elsie told me she didn't want to be the Happy Pumpkin House and thinks the spooky, creepy houses are better. Having a few neighbors go all out for Halloween isn't helping.

Tanner traveled over-night with the high school cross-country team for a race over 5 hours away.
Wish we could have been two places at once to watch him but at least a friend sent a few pics of Tanner's great race (Sept. 27).
Dressed and ready for a quick stop at a wedding reception en route to attending a broadcast of the General Women's meeting (Sept. 27) with my three girls. We certainly didn't plan on the bride being late to her own reception - it kind of threw our well-planned intentions for a loop. Joining a group of moms/daughters at the local Dairy Queen for ice cream treats after the meeting helped smooth over the rough start.

Great update on Harvest Break sweetie! I promise, next year we will make sure to find an open weekend for camping. I really missed that opportunity to be with the kids. Although, I think I might need to invest in a new tent...that one doesn't handle the rain very well. :) I love you!
That is awesome that you have a harvest break… It's about the same time of year that we take a week to celebrate communism...

We didn't fit a family camping trip into our schedule this year. But at least Cam went on a 11-year scout camp-out with McKay.

We don't get into the scary Halloween stuff either. We are all about "the harvest" in our decorating. Got some pumpkins, a mum and a hay bale. And a scarecrow. Good enough for me.
