Another Teenager in the House

This post marks the beginning of my efforts to play catch-up.  Somehow the month of July has absolutely flown by...and I still have a few June events to record.
The kids like to open one present in the morning - "Nutty Bars"
Jantzen turned 13 years old on Friday, July 3 and started out his day with breakfast at JB's with Aaron.  They also played a little basketball together at the church later that day and at night attended the newly released "Jurassic World" movie with Jantzen's friend, Cole P.
Jantzen - dishing up on the special birthday plate.
We added another teenager to our household.  And we have the food bill to prove it!
Jantzen requested spaghetti (white not wheat) and homemade sauce along with potstickers (interesting combo), salad and fresh fruit.
His only dessert request was ice cream but last minute we made a chocolate cake since extended family came by to wish him a happy birthday.

Opening gifts...
At first, Jantzen wasn't sure what he was opening but the attached note sent him on a scavenger hunt to look for his main gift.  This is the "sleeve" for a post to go into.
Too big and too heavy to wrap....in-ground basketball hoop.  The sleeve makes it possible to remove the basketball standard if/when we move.  Ingenious.
G-ma and G-pa M with Jantzen
Just what every teenage boy would like for their birthday, right?
So fantastic to have Great G-pa M around to join us for our summer birthdays.
LaVerne made good on his promise earlier this week and took Jantzen golfing.  Neither of them wanted to stop long enough for me to snap a photo but I convinced them this will be a precious picture some day.  How many 13-year olds can say the went golfing with their 93-year great grandfathers?

Happy 13th Birthday Jantzen!
We appreciate the love, laughter and energy you share with our family!
