Every day is a glorious day with Aaron in my life.

A special thanks to Stephanie M. for winning tickets to a 3-day "Royalty & Romance" couples conference while on the mainland this past summer.  Since she wasn't going to make it (from Hawaii), she gifted them to Aaron and me.  The timing worked out quite nicely as it was the weekend prior to our wedding anniversary.  The logistics of preparing to leave town get complicated and at the last minute, Aaron and I started second guessing our decision to take off for a full three days (Th-Sat).  We had arranged for G-ma M to come over in the mornings for an hour to help get everybody off to school.  We coordinated bus rides to her place and she helped with dinner and transportation (though it felt like I put together a zillion carpools in my absence).  Janene has been in 'high demand' lately with extended family adjustments and I didn't want our weekend-getaway to be a burden.  In the end, the kids did REALLY well with the arrangements and stepped it up in the responsibility department.  We even came home to a fairly clean house!  An added bonus was having Breanna (released a few months early from her mission due to health challenges) and Lillian drive up Friday night to stay at G-ma's - Anna was so excited to have a cousin around.

Aaron nor I really knew what to expect once we arrived at the conference.  Sometimes it's nice not to have any preconceived notions.  The presenters, Kirk and Kimberlee Duncan, were high energy and very engaging with the 400-ish couples in attendance.  I first heard the name Kirk Duncan while attending the 9-month foot zoning seminars.  He offers mentoring/coaching programs and other business oriented concepts but his ambitions are to help everyone "Master Their Mind" because as we learn to manage our moods, we manage our lives.  Overall, Kirk and Kim shared excellent content and we appreciated the take-aways we gained.

With a conference titled "Royalty & Romance", one could guess there were conversations about kings and queens and swords and dragon slaying.  This particular fellow took it all to a new level when he showed up the second day dressing the part and carrying his own sword.  Aaron couldn't resist snapping a shot - even if from behind (giggle-giggle).  One in every crowd?

Lunch breaks included chats about where to eat.  

Cheesecake Factory?  Kneaders?  The Beehive House?

All of the above.

Walking around the beautiful downtown with the flower gardens and fountains, we remembered how much we actually like SLC.  The only time we seem to visit usually coincides with big events which equates to big crowds.  Not this time around.  And that was refreshing.

The three days magically flew by.  Renewed and empowered, it was time to skedadle home.

One last meal at Zuppa's en route, we pulled into the garage at 11:00pm.   With a sacrament meeting talk to give (Aaron) and Sunday School lesson to prepare (Heather), we geared up to enter the real world once again....just as soon as that ball game ended anyway.

It's been an amazing 19 years together and each one keeps getting better.
