Friday, October 9 - Day 5
Magic Kingdom - again...
This time we made sure to get a family photo(s) at the beginning of the day. So glad we did because we could not have anticipated how totally crowded the park was going to get as the day progressed. We thought it was crowded the first time we visited but had a good comparison the second time - and it was significantly more crowded.
We hit the favorites of Splash Mountain/Thunder Mountain right out of the gates.
After that we took in other rides we didn't fit in last go around...Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean (again), watched Mickey's Philharmonic 3-D show, waited near first in line for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (temporarily closed) but after getting word there was no opening time in sight, we left our beloved spots in line and moved on. Just not willing to wait 75-90 minutes for any ride...
Found a nice, shady spot near Tomorrowland for our picnic lunch where we could watch the parade/show. After lunch we split up a bit and the girls borrowed my phone for a few pics with the characters.
Brandon gave us a few tips on how to score big during the Buzz Light Year ride. Paid off big time. I didn't even know it was possible to score 275,400 points (yeah, that was me!). Okay, so maybe the ride stopped for a minute at the end and I racked up a few extra points...
We came. We saw. We conquered.
Saturday was spent packing and relaxing. The resort we stayed at boasted of their own waterpark. It had a lazy river and other fun areas but with cooler weather and threatening rain, we didn't stay all afternoon as planned. In fact, we climbed into the van just as the downpour started!
Our final night in Florida we took the kids to Chili's Restaurant for dinner. They were almost as tired of eating at the condo as I was of preparing food for everyone. We ate up most of what we purchased in our 9 trips to the grocery store. Seriously?!?
It didn't matter to Elsie where we ate.

We went to bed early Saturday night because we had to leave the condo by 3:30am.
The airport was 30 minutes away and we made great time with little traffic on the roads. After returning the rental van, everybody grabbed their backpacks and suitcases and the processional through the airport was underway. Again, so much easier than the stream of ducklings I had to look after during our San Antonio trip 6 years ago!
The airport was humming and buzzing at that early hour of 4:30am. We checked bags and made it through security without time to spare at the gate for a 6:00am departure. Did I mention how busy the airport was on a Sunday morning? Not an ideal time for flying but that's what worked out for us.

Without media (it was Sunday) for entertainment, we encouraged the kids to sleep or read. They did a little of both and somehow we managed to land in Salt Lake without incident.
Last leg of the journey - 3.5 hr. drive. Ahh, finally home sweet home with time to prepare for school the next morning. We will forever appreciate the adventures we shared together and can now check DisneyWorld off the list. We're grateful we were able to take all six children at the same time while they are still living under our roof and this was the (only) year. It's a 'been there done that' in our books and we're already looking forward to new adventures ahead!
