A new 4-H program opened in our area this year and Elsie happily joined the Cloverbuds (ages 5-7.) Most of her 4-H stuff was done at home with Mom. Throughout the summer we made homemade pizzas, fruit kabobs, ants on a log, and other kid-friendly recipes.
And Quinn was always around to help...
County Fair week was extra busy this year with all three girls involved in 4-H for the first time. Just as I was getting the kitchen cleaned up after the P. reunion, all three decided to enter the baking contest. Tuesday morning our kitchen was buzzing with the noon deadline to get the entries in.
Brinley took on a challenging butter cookie - Chocolate Dream - layered with chocolate filling.
Anna made delicious Orange Chocolate Chunk Cookies. The judges really liked the twist my orange oil added to the finished product.
Because I didn't think to get pictures of their actual creations, the recipe book option will suffice. This was not, however, the recipe Elsie used for her yummy Snappy Ginger Cookies. She used an old favorite I've had for years. She made these all by herself - and ended up winning prize money in the contest! Shock of the day:).

Brinley did a cooking demonstration for judges and finished in the top three with her fabulous breadsticks.
She also entered pickles in the fair this year.
It was Anna's first year of sewing with the Heritage 4-H Club.
Unfortunately, all three girls are in different clubs (more drive time for Mom).
She spent a lot of extra time on her project.

Beautifully modeling her grey maxi skirt and yellow & white polka dot jacket, Brinley took on difficult projects this year. Especially working with the satin fabric!
She also made a "girlfriend purse" but chose not to model it during the Dress Revue.

The 4-H Teen Council put together a Cloverbud Extravaganza on Friday afternoon. It was a 'two birds with one stone' event since Brinley is part of the council and Elsie is a Cloverbud.
Even though Quinn isn't a Cloverbud, they let him get involved in the obstacle course.
And we checked out the animals.
And made "horses" out of "noodles".
The fair is officially over.

Great job, Elsie, Anna and Brinley. It takes a lot of effort to do 4-H projects and finish them off. We are so proud of you for finishing hard things. Awesome! Congratulations!
