Happy 6th Birthday!

Our kindergartener has turned the ripe old age of 6 years old!  As the months and years clip along, Aaron and I can hardly believe the ages and stages of our children.  They are all growing up so fast.   It won't be long before they start 'leaving the nest'...but we won't talk about that.

 Quinn celebrated his 6th birthday on Wednesday, April 22.  Along with enjoying his birthday breakfast with Dad, Quinn looked forward to opening one gift in the morning before school.  It was a busy morning with people coming and going and the fact that nobody was around to watch him open a gift was no deterrent for Quinn.  It was just the two of us but Quinn was SO excited to receive another 'big eye'!  This stuffed elephant named "Peanut" became his instant side-kick and he introduced "Peanut" to anybody and everybody throughout the day.

 Quinn selected the dinner menu - tatertot casserole, applesauce and apples (he explained the  later two items were so Elsie would have something to eat).  He had fun spelling words and helping put it together.

 Afternoon kindergarten has worked very well for us this year.  We fit in a little visit with Ms. Sandy (speech therapist) before school and she gave Quinn a LEGO helicopter.  He was beyond thrilled with her kindness.

 Bringing a birthday treat to school is optional (according to the teacher) but not really.  Quinn put in a request months ago to take these little donuts to share with his classmates.  It was a hit.

 "Peanut" and the LEGO helicopter went everywhere Quinn went.  

They also enjoyed special status at the dinner table

 Quinn has been counting down the days until his birthday for so long.  There was not a single tradition that went unnoticed by him (okay, maybe there was one).  Our annual walk-about was vetoed because the kids/cousins were too busy playing in the backyard all evening.

 G-ma and G-pa M along with Cameron, Jett and Jagger joined us for cake and ice cream after dinner.  Per request, I made two football cakes.

We also picked up the green/blue mini-cake off the discount rack at the grocery store while running kids around earlier in the afternoon.  Now we had a white cake and a chocolate cake.

I think Jagger wanted to help blow out the candles.

But he let Quinn do it by himself.

 Besides "Peanut", Quinn had been asking for a pinewood derby car kit for weeks leading up to his birthday.  I think that's all we really needed to give him.  But, between the cousins and grandparents and siblings,  Quinn was showered with fun stuff.
