Catching Up With Quinn

 At the beginning of the school year, Quinn started out in the Tuesday 9am gymnastics class.  While he enjoyed being the the same class as his buddy, Dallas, he was elated when we made the switch to the Thursday 10am class a few months ago.  Dawson and Tallin are both in the Thursday class.  Quinn is not one to wake up early and rush into the day. The luxury of afternoon kindergarten has afforded him the option to sleep in a little bit and eat breakfast later than the others.  He often eats a huge brunch because he doesn't like to eat when he first wakes up.

 After all, taking pictures isn't nearly as fun as actually doing gymnastics.

On Friday, April 24th, Quinn attended his very first field trip.  Lucky for me, I was fortunate enough to tag along and ride with a school bus full of kindergarteners.  Quinn got to practice getting up early and riding the morning bus to the school since the morning and afternoon classes went together.  They separated into two groups after arriving to campus to make it more manageable.  Our first stop - the planetarium.  This is a place Quinn has asked me about in the past so it was his favorite part.  I didn't think the instructor would appreciate me snapping pics of the constellations during his presentation so I refrained.

 Next up - the natural history museum on campus.

The two Quinn's are only two days apart.

 Next up, the greenhouses on campus.

 Checking out the tomato-growing operation was amazing.  No soil.

The watering system was ingenious as was the fertilizer used to help the plants grow.  Rows and rows of beautiful tomatoes - and not a one goes to waste.  The university utilizes all food it produces.

 The kids really liked the 'jungle' area.  There were all kinds of plants we don't usually see around here - even a banana tree with fruit growing on it.

 Because our group finished before the other one, we let the kids run a lap around the indoor track.   This is where Alisa G. and I ran all winter at 6am on T/TH while Jantzen and Landon were at basketball practice.

 Quinn was pretty satisfied to be the leader of the pack.

It was an action-packed field trip.  We enjoyed the beautiful spring morning as the children did a lot of walking around the campus.  I think we wore a few of the kiddos right out.  Even Quinn fell asleep later in the day and had to be woken up before the evening activities.
