Elsie celebrated her first birthday on Sunday, July 6, 2008. What a joy she has been to our entire family. We love her and are so glad she joined us one year ago. It is a tradition on the first birthday to let each child 'have at it' with their cake. It has been fun to see how differently each approaches this 'opportunity'! Elsie couldn't figure out how to get all of the sticky frosting off of her fingers and that seemed to frustrate her a bit. Mostly, she liked climbing on top of the table and feeling like queen for the day. She smiled every time she received birthday wishes from others.
As you can see, Elsie had plenty of helpers to open the gifts. I wonder who was most excited about this part of the day?

I can't believe it's been a year!! Happy Birthday, Elsie! (she doesn't look too happy with that mess on her fingers...I think that might prove to be a good thing later on!)
