Dr. Seuss Week & G-ma Comes

It's always nice when the children take it upon themselves to prepare for these dress-up weeks at school.  They did very well - until the last day (Friday) - when we were rushing to get Cindy Loo-Hoo's hair done as the bus was entering the neighborhood.  My kids know exactly how long it takes them to trek the quarter mile to the bus stop.  At least it wasn't raining this time:).

Crazy Hat Day

 The PTO sponsors Dr. Seuss Week each year.  The idea is to encourage the children to read, read and read!  There are various competitions and activities throughout the week with a culminating assembly on Friday. Prizes were given out to top readers and some students were able to throw pies at Principal Bate's face because the student body reached their reading goal of 40,000 minutes.

Wacky Wednesday is always their favorite.

 

 Anna and Elsie read A LOT all week long.  In fact, it was the end of the trimester (4-day weekend for Tanner - nice!) and the kids did extremely well in their course work.  Straight A students all around - well done guys!

Returning from an AM run, I found Quinn's shoe buried in mud - filled with rainwater.

Spring has sprung.  Quinn has been outside "becoming one" with Mother Nature again.  He quietly floats in and out of the house - only to grab another pair of shoes.  Strange how they've been disappearing lately. 

It could be a long, wet spring.

 And he only has a few pair.

Music is a big deal in our community.  The 5th/6th grade choirs sang beautifully at the HS Performing Arts Center on Wednesday evening.

Jace, Tyler, Jantzen, Colby, Taden, Isaac

 All but Tyler play on Jantzen's competitive basketball team and they also sing in the choir.  The coach is giving the boys a few weeks off but apparently the T/TH 6:00am practices will be resuming again before summer starts.  Who knew?  Now it's time to turn our attention to soccer again.  And the track season is underway for Tanner.  The weather around here is not usually accommodating of spring sports so there are certainly 'no wimps' on the track team!

G-ma made a triple batch of crepes.

Who doesn't love having somebody take over in the kitchen for a few meals?  It was wonderful to run the kids around and come home having dinner nearly ready (without me!).  And G-ma stitched pieces of ribbon in the corners of the children's duvet covers while she was here.  Tanner and Brinley enjoyed lunch with her after sitting in the temple baptistry for a few hours.  And everybody was thrilled with the bag of potato chips and microwave popcorn she left behind!
